Status Effects
Several status effects are used in DeceasedCraft, given that it is a modpack. The following covers status effects that you may encounter during a playthrough.
Grace
Grace is provided to a player each time they spawn into the world. As such, each time a player dies in their world, they will be respawned with Grace enabled. Grace has a 5-minute window, giving players some freedom in finding materials and/or retracing their steps to their body to collect their materials while NOT triggering a horde building.
Mutagen Sickness
Mutagen Sickness originates from the Mutationcraft mod. This is only transmitted via "assimilated" zombies, which cover most vanilla Minecraft mobs in their variants. Assimilated zombies can be spotted with grotesque features, often sporting spider-like appendages, expanded jaws, split heads with other body parts coming out, etc. Mutagen Sickness has a 5-minute window and is simply a flag to notify the player that should they die in that time frame, their death will spawn an Assimilated Player zombie. This is generally undesirable due to assimilated creatures having higher damage output and being able to infect other mobs (including zombies) in their vicinity.
If the player is still alive after the 5-minute window with Mutagen Sickness, the status effect will be removed with no repercussions.
Infection
Infection is an effect that can rarely occur if the player gets attacked by a zombie of any sorts. This status effect has 4 stages. Starting with Infection I. The hunger and thirst of the player will quickly reduce itself, forcing the player to consume more than usual to not die from starvation or dehydration. The other debuffs that could occur through this increased loss of food and water can be devastating if being in a situation where no cure is avilable.
The Infection continues to progress with around 5 minutes. It then proceeds to evolve into the next stage, which can be easily be noticed through a sound that plays when the next stage is reached. This time another minute is added to the base 5 minutes until the next stage is reached. With each stage the hunger and thirst bar depletes itself quicker and quicker. After reaching Infection IV and having no cure aquired, the player will die once the effect reaches 0:00.
If the player dies while being infected. It's body will rise as another zombie, carrying all the items and armor as well as weapons. Upon killing the zombified version of yourself all items will drop instead of leaving behind a corpse. So it should be carefully considered where to lure and kill your own zombie version.
The best way to prevail through an infection is to eat any food that grants the Nourishment effect. It will prevent the depletion of hunger and thirst.
The only cure is a golden apple, which is however much more complicated to craft than in vanilla minecraft. Needing and apple and a bottle of Formula X which is hard to get in early game.
The best way to deal with infection in early stages of gameplay is to empty the inventory, most importantly taking off any armor and weapons and then killing yourself at a safe location. The infection will be gone and the zombified player wont be hard to deal with.
